Project Overview

In order to keep pace with the Taichung Metropolitan Area’s rapid growth, the government has prioritized plans to develop a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system with the eventual construction of at least three lines including the 16.7 kilometer long elevated Green Line having 18 stations along its route.

Besides building a safe, convenient, comfortable, and aesthetically appealing MRT system, a land development program has also been put in place in order to integrate mixed-use development into the areas adjacent to the MRT depots and stations.

The scope of work for this DJ102 Design Lot project comprises the elevated viaduct together with 8 elevated stations extending for a length of 8.064 kilometers from the western shore of Han River on the northern end to approximately 453 meters south of Zhonggang Rd. at the southern end.

Among these 8 elevated stations, two of them are interchange stations; namely, G9 Station which will interchange with B4 Station on the future planned Blue Line, and G7 Station which will interchange with O4 Station of the future planned Orange Line as well as with the Taiwan Railways Songjhu Station.

The Green Line started trial runs in 2019 and is now expected to commence formal operations by the end of 2020.
