Project Overview

Resembling a white egret standing by the water, the Taipei Shetze Bridge is the nation's first self-anchored cable stayed bridge with an inclined pylon.

 

Some 250 meters long, the bridge crosses the Tamsui River via two asymmetric spans. The main span is 180 meters long, and the pylon has a height of 105 meters and leans at a 78 degree angle.

The superstructure is an inclined pylon steel cable stayed bridge in which the tower, bottom beam, tie beam and main beam are made of steel box structures while the substructure is made of concrete piers.

 

​The pylon and the bottom tie are joined but separated from the piers, conveying a sense of power and beauty.

This bridge has won several prizes, including a Public Construction Golden Quality Award, and creates a scenic landmark for those crossing between Taipei and New Taipei City as well as the those enjoying the recreational river parks below.
